I picked up the phone.

Me : "Hello, good afternoon"

Caller : "Can I speak to Mr X."

Me : "Sorry, but Mr X not in the office at the moment"

Caller : "Can you CALL Mr X to pick up his handphone from the security office !"

Me : "Sorry, but I cannot call him, however I will inform him once he gets back to the office"

Caller : "Who are you, aaahhh???!!! "

Me (shocked with her rudeness !) : "Excuse me… but who are you? "

Caller : "Florence!!! Waaaa…! I talk to you so nice one but you answer me like that arrr !! "

Me (more shocked !! .. but who’s rude here ?? and how do you expect me to answer you ??!!) : "Excuse me… I simply was trying to tell you that I cannot CALL him but can only inform him once he gets back to the office ..."

Before I could tell her how rude she is instead ... demanding to know who I am without firstly introducing herself, she quickly said : "ok, ok… nevermind, bye !” and hang-up !!

Cold Chilli ??

When we eat something hot (spicy).... and we told him that the dish is 'hot' (meaning pedas)... he will ask me to 'blow' on the food - so that the food will not be hot anymore !! Now we have to tell him the the food is Spicy... not Hot ;) .. hahaha

Now, he kept on asking me to buy 'cold' chilli, LOL !! Knowing that Chilli is hot... he kept on asking me to buy for him "Cold" chilli.

He said "Zed will eat Cold Chilli.... mama eat the spicy chilli" !!

Anybody know where to find Cold Chilli ?????????????? Where arr .........??

The first day of Ramadhan

On the authority of Abu Saeed al Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) it is related that the Prophet (Peace be upon him) said,

“The doors of Jannah (Paradise) are opened up on the first night of Ramadhan. Not a single door (among the doors of paradise) is then closed until the last night of Ramadhan.

For every Salah (prayer) performed (this refers to Taraweeh salah) during the nights of Ramadhan; Allah (swt) records one and a half thousand good deeds for every Sajdah (Prostration of that Salah), And, for the fasting person, Allah (swt) creates in Jannah a mansion of red Ya’qoot (a precious stone in Jannah).

This mansion will have seven thousand entrances. (So huge will be these entrances that, in each entrance will be located a palace of gold adorned with red Ya’qoot).

When the Muslim fasts the first day of Ramadhan, Allah (swt) forgives all his sins committed from the first of the previous Ramadhan. Daily (i.e. during Ramadhan) from the time of Fajr salah until sunset, seventy thousand Malaaikah (angels) supplicate for his forgiveness.

In return for every sajdah (prostration) which he (the fasting person) makes of any Salah, whether during the day or night, he will obtain (such a wonderful) tree (so huge) that a horseman will take five hundred years to pass under its shade.”

Something to share.... maybe you've seen it before - all the same, InsyaAllah it will serve as a good reminder.

My dear sisters in Islam,
please take a look at this advice, so that you can stay attractive and beautiful for the rest of your life.

1) To beautify your eyes - lower your gaze towards strange men, this will make your eyes pure and shiny.

2) To beautify your face and make it shiny - keep doing wuddu minimum five times a day.

3) To have attractive lips - always mention Allah and remember to speak the truth.

4) As for blush and rouge - "Modesty" (Haya') is one of the best brands and it can be found in any of the Islamic centers.

5) To remove impurities from your face and body - use a soap called "Istighfaar".(seeking forgiveness of Allah) this soap will remove any bad deeds.

6) Now about your hair - if any of you has a problem of hair split ends, then I suggest "Islamic Hijab" which will protect your hair from damage.

7) As for jewellery - beautify your hands with humbleness and let your hands be generous and give charity to the poor

8) To avoid heart disease - forgive people who hurt your feelings.

9) Your necklace should be a sign to pardon your fellow brothers and sisters.

If you follow these advices, InsyaAllah, you will have a beautiful and attractive - inner and outer appearance.

Tell me what to do..........

She's still single - 25 yrs old.

She's good with my baby.... entertaining him & playing with him. She's not great with housework and cleaning, she's not great with ironing, she's not so good with cooking... I can tolerate all this.. the compensation being my primary concern ; that is my my baby... and he likes her. She's soft spoken, and speak to us with respect. She's pleasant, bubbly with the children and speaks English well.

GREAT ??..........................Not so

Yesterday, hb came home early. While waiting for the lift.. suddenly a lil boy's voice shouted to him "Baba............ baba............". There he was.. under the void-deck, on those stone benches.... my maid, standing.... with 2 men by her side... busy punching the keypads on her hp while one of the man whispered something to her ear.... exchanging phone numbers !!!! My baby ran to my hb, without any footwear !!!......BAREfooted !!!!

When my hb asked what she's doing, and why she was downstairs with a barefoot child ! Her answer is 'The towel had dropped so I came down to pick it up" (true, she hv a kitchen towel in her hand)'. My Katkoot was asleep and the 2 elder boys were at home... but as she was leaving, Katkoot woke up, so she just grabbed him and brought him along downstairs to picked up the towel !! (takleh pakaikan slipar ker?? !!). Anyway that's not important ! Who's the two men ?? OOohhhh... she just met them. But my katkoot told hb that "Uncle gave me sweet !"... Maaaakkkkkkkkk !! Strangers give something to my baby and she let them !!......... what if that thing is harmful !!!!! *Faintedddddddd* (don't want to even think about it !!!).

I know she's a bit 'cheeky' and used her hp lots.... sms-ing and such. If you want to hv boyfriendz outside and meet them on yr off-dayzzz... I close my eyes arr..... if you want to exchange numbers outside....... pasal kau lah naaakkk. But under MY BLOCK !!! So these ppl know where she worked and where I stay !!! What's next ??... they will come knocking at my door looking for her while we are working and the boyz at school ??!!!! What's next ????.........and next? and next ???.... AAArrrgggghhhh...........

Dilema......... dilema................

Do I let her stay with a stern warning ?... or do I just return her back to the agent ?? She's been with us for only 1.5 months !!!!!! I am very patient with maids' nonsense... but this makes me shiver a little !!...... what if she dragged my baby along during her hanky-panky ??? I felt like sending her OFF ......... but again, like previous case........... when I look at them.........my heart melted..........tak sampai ati lah................ :( Toooooooooooollloooooooooooonggggggggggggggg !!!!! I'm a good employer.... why can't I get a good maid like before................

The tragic death of a South Carolina 10-year-old more than an hour after he had gone swimming has focused a spotlight on the little-known phenomenon called “dry drowning” — and warning signs that every parent should be aware of.

“I’ve never known a child could walk around, talk, speak and their lungs be filled with water,” Cassandra Jackson told NBC News in a story broadcast Thursday on TODAY.

On Sunday, Jackson had taken her son, Johnny, to a pool near their home in Goose Creek, S.C. It was the first time he’d ever gone swimming — and, tragically, it would be his last.

At some point during his swim, Johnny got some water in his lungs. He didn’t show any immediate signs of respiratory distress, but the boy had an accident in the pool and soiled himself. Still, Johnny, his sister and their mother walked home together.

“We physically walked home. He walked with me,” Jackson said, still trying to understand how her son could have died. “I bathed him, and he told me that he was sleepy.”

Spongy material

Later, she went into his room to check on him. “I walked over to the bed, and his face was literally covered with this spongy white material,” she said. “And I screamed.”

A family friend, Christine Meekins, was visiting and went to see what was wrong. “I pulled his arm and said, ‘Johnny! Johnny!’ ” Meekins told NBC. “There was no response. I opened one of his eyes and I just knew inside my heart that it was something really bad.”

Johnny was rushed to a local hospital, but it was too late. Johnny had drowned, long after he got out of the swimming pool.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, some 3,600 people drowned in 2005, the most recent year for which there are statistics. Some 10 to 15 percent of those deaths was classified as “dry drowning,” which can occur up to 24 hours after a small amount of water gets into the lungs. In children, that can happen during a bath.

Dr. Daniel Rauch, a pediatrician from New York University Langone Medical Center, told TODAY’s Meredith Vieira that there are warning signs that every parent should be aware of. Johnny Jackson exhibited some of them, but unless a parent knows what to look for, they are easily overlooked or misinterpreted.

The three important signs, he said, are difficulty breathing, extreme tiredness and changes in behavior. All are the result of reduced oxygen flow to the brain.

Johnny had two of those signs — he was very tired when he got home, and he had had the accident in the pool. But like most parents, Cassandra Jackson had no idea this could be related to water in his lungs.

Delayed reaction

Rauch said that the phenomenon of dry drowning is not completely understood. But medical researchers say that in some people, a small amount of inhaled water can have a delayed-reaction effect.

“It can take a while for the process to occur and to set in and cause difficulties,” Rauch said. “Because it is a lung process, difficulty breathing is the first sign that you would be worried about.”

The second sign is extreme fatigue, which isn’t always easy to spot. “It’s very difficult to tell when your child is abnormally tired versus normal tired after a hot day and running around in the pool,” Rauch said. “The job of the lungs is to get oxygen into the blood and your brain needs oxygen to keep working, so when your brain isn’t getting oxygen, it can start doing funny things. One of them is becoming excessively tired, losing consciousness and the inability to be aroused appropriately.”

Finally, there are changes in behavior, Rauch said — another tough call when dealing with very small children, whose moods and behavior can change from one minute to the next.

“Another response of the brain to not getting oxygen is to do different things,” Rauch explained, saying parents should be concerned “if your child’s abnormally cranky, abnormally combative — any dramatic change from their normal pattern.”

He admitted, “It is very difficult to pick this up sometimes.” But spotting the warning signs and getting a suspected victim to an emergency room can save a life, he added.

Victims of dry drowning are treated by having a breathing tube inserted so that oxygen can be supplied under pressure to the lungs. “Then we just wait for the lung to heal itself,” he said.

But for Cassandra Jackson, it’s knowledge gained too late. She and Meekins sat in her home, looking at pictures of the bright and happy son who was no more.

“He was very loving, full of life,” the grieving mother said. “That was my little man.”

Berhati2lah..... walaupon ader chop HALAL... bacerlah isi rumusan (ingredients) yang tertera. Ini kerjer manufacturer yang bodoh - pasal walau dah chop HALAL, dier tulis "PORK" .... ;

Tapi yg tak tulis (tapi still tarok) and chop HALAL tu... Wallau'alam lah berapa banyak dah masok perot kiter..., pasal kalau semua nak buat sendiri.. kekadang tak telarat, so beli jugak yg Instant. Nak carik membekal Islam pon kekadang susah.... Yang penting, kalau niat mereka untuk menipu orang2 Islam, itu bukan salah kita, Allah maha mengetahui dan maha Pengampon. Ya Rabb, jauhilah kami dari melakukan & memakan benda2 yang Haram, apa jua yang didalam pengetahuan kami, juga yang tanpa pengetahuan kami... Ameen.

In this reccession period, just something to share with you sisters :

Avoid waste

It is said in the Qur’an that Allah invites us to enjoy the fruits of the earth, but to avoid excess leading to waste, ‘for Allah does not love wasters.’

Allah, in His Wisdom, appointed humans, the creatures that He has conferred with the faculty of reason and with free will, to be His vice regents on earth. And while Allah has invited people to partake of the fruits of the earth for their rightful nourishment and enjoyment, He has also directed them not to waste that which Allah has provided for him.

Use but do not abuse

Several times in the Qur’an, man is invited to make use of the nourishing goods that Allah has placed on earth for him, but abuse—particularly through extravagance and excess—is strictly forbidden. Sometimes these principles are stated in one breath, so to speak. Sometimes they are stated separately. But the message is the same, as the following verse indicates:

O children of Adam! ... eat and drink: but waste not by excess for Allah loveth not the wasters. 007.031.

There are as many invitations to partake of nature as provided for man and for other creatures of the earth as there are for the avoidance of wasteful extravagance. Time and again, Allah reminds us that He loveth not wasters.

It is He who produceth gardens with trellises and without and dates and tilth with produce of all kinds and olives and pomegranates similar [in kind] and different [in variety]: eat of their fruit in their season but render the dues that are proper on the day that the harvest is gathered. But waste not by excess: for Allah loveth not the wasters. 006.141.

The Quran and Hadith on Mothers

The Quran

1. "We have enjoined on man kindness to his parents; in pain did his mother bear him, and in pain did she give him birth" (46:15).

2. "Thy Lord hath decreed that ye worship none but Him, and that ye be kind to parents. Whether one or both of them attain old age in thy life, say not to them a word of contempt, nor repel them, but address them in terms of honor. And out of kindness, lower to them the wing of humility, and say: ‘My Lord! bestow on them Thy Mercy even as they cherished me in childhood' "(17:23-24).

3. "We have enjoined on man and woman kindness to parents; but if they (either of them) strive (to force) thee to join with Me anything of which thou hast no knowledge, obey them not'" (29:8).

4. "We have enjoined on man and woman (to be good) to his/her parents; show gratitude to Me and to thy parents; to Me is (thy final) Goal. If they (parents) strive to make thee join in worship with Me things of which thou hast no knowledge, obey them not; yet bear them company in this life with justice (and consideration) and follow the way of those who turn to Me (in love)" (31:14-15).

The Hadith

1. The Prophet Muhammad said, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him: Your Heaven lies under the feet of your mother (Ahmad, Nasai).

2. A man came to the Prophet and said, ‘O Messenger of God! Who among the people is the most worthy of my good companionship? The Prophet said: Your mother. The man said, ‘Then who?' The Prophet said: Then your mother. The man further asked, ‘Then who?' The Prophet said: Then your mother. The man asked again, ‘Then who?' The Prophet said: Then your father. (Bukhari, Muslim).

3. Abu Usaid Saidi said: We were once sitting with Rasulullah when a man from the tribe of Salmah came and said to him: O Messenger of Allah! do my parents have rights over me even after they have died? And Rasulullah said: Yes. You must pray to Allah to bless them with His Forgiveness and Mercy, fulfill the promises they made to anyone, and respect their relations and their friends (Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah).

4. Abdullah ibn Amr related that the Messenger of Allah said: The major sins are to believe that Allah has partners, to disobey one's parents, to commit murder, and to bear false witness (Bukhari, Muslim).

5. It is narrated by Asma bint Abu Bakr that during the treaty of Hudaibiyah, her mother, who was then pagan, came to see her from Makkah. Asma informed the Messenger of Allah of her arrival and also that she needed help. He said: Be good to your mother (Bukhari, Muslim).

Aisha narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Exchange gifts with one another, for they remove ill feelings from the hearts (Tirmidhi).

10 Things You Can Do For Your Mom

Often, moms do virtually all of the giving and very little, if any, of the taking from their families. They may not say it, but most of them want to be appreciated in small ways. You don't have to buy them a car or a house (you could do that too), but it's the small things that count with mom.

Here are some ideas of how you can let mom know that all of her giving has and continues to be appreciated.

1. Give mom a vacation

Don't think Hawaii. Think of a day away from the kitchen. Or the home. Give her a vacation from the home where for her, most of the seemingly endless housework is done daily. Or, if she doesn't want that, start doing your share around the house. Maybe you could start giving her one day of the week off, when she does no cooking or household chores. Remember, fathers and husbands work hard at the office, but they get a two-day weekend in most cases. Moms usually don't even get a full day off. And if they are also working outside, it's like two full time jobs.

2. Let's hear her life story: a mom's circle

She may have read you bedtime stories when you were small, but now it's time for her to tell you a different story-about herself. Make a mom's circle at home in which you ask her to tell her life story. Mom's circle may actually turn into a project: one family member could write this up into a report, another could make a story book out of it and a third could video/audio record it. A mom's circle may become an ongoing family tradition.

3. Try beating mom's cooking

While most moms ask their kids what they want to eat, turn the tables around and do the same for her. Is there special food your mom likes? Buy or prepare that food for her (if you are not the best of cooks, maybe it's safer to just buy it).

4. Is your mom in a nursing home

If your mom is in a nursing home, why not plan to bring her home for a weekend visit to stay with you. Even better, why not make this a weekly, or twice a month set up, so you can spend more time with her and she can be around those who really love her more often? Of course the ultimate gift will be if you can liberate her from that nursing home so she can stay in her room in your own home.

5. Arrange a mammogram for her

Every minutes, a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer. That woman could be your mom (Nauz'ubillah)

A woman's chances of developing breast cancer increases with age. The National Cancer Institute recommends women age 40 and over be screened with mammography every one to two years. It also advises that women at higher risk of breast cancer get medical advice before they are 40 about when to begin screening and about the frequency of their screening. Do this for your mom, so you can see her spend the rest of her life in good health, Insha Allah (if God wills).

6. Is your mom a bookworm?

If so, buy a small cabinet and buy all of the books you can afford. Then take it to her home and set it up for her.

7. If your mom is a non-Muslim

If your mom is a non-Muslim, try fasting for a day (Nafil or extra fasting), and keep thinking and praying for her. Ask Allah that He guides her and ask Him what you can do to help her understand her own Creator.

8. If your relationship has not been the best with your Mom

If your relationship with your mom has not been the best, sit down in front of a year-long calendar or planner and mark down dates and things which you can plan to improve this relationship. Start off by making a formal first appointment. Then pick dates on which you can keep contact with her and build your relationship on a regular basis.

9. If mom is not alive

If your mom is not alive, visit her relatives and friends and ask what you can do for them. Consider these two Hadiths (sayings of the Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him):

1. The Messenger of Allah said: When a person dies, his actions come to an end, except for three things: a continuing Sadaqa (charity), knowledge from which benefit is still being derived, and a righteous child who prays for her or him (translated meaning from Muslim).

2. Abu Usaid Saidi said: We were once sitting with Rasulullah when a man from the tribe of Salmah came and said to him: O Messenger of Allah! do my parents have rights over me even after they have died? And Rasulullah said:

Yes. You must pray to Allah to bless them with His Forgiveness and Mercy, fulfill the promises they made to anyone, and respect their relations and their friends (Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah).

10. Pick up her feet and spread the word

The Prophet Muhammad said: Your Heaven lies under the feet of your mother (Ahmad, Nasai). Ask your mom to lift her feet, so you can locate where Jannah is. Then tell others about your discovery by sharing what Islam has to say about moms and their importance in our lives.

Running to Remember a Mother and Her Trust in Allah.

Muslims who perform the Hajj or Umra must run in the middle portion of the distance between Safa and Marwa seven times. Safa and Marwa are two hills close to the Kaba. This is a commemoration of one mother's sacrifice for her son.

That mother was Hajar (may Allah be pleased with her). Her son was the Prophet Ismail (peace be upon him). Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) was Hajar's husband, and Ismail's father.

Hajar's example of sacrifice took place when she and her baby was left in the valley of Makkah by Allah's order as pioneers to start a civilization.

Here was the wife of a Prophet, the princess of the king of Egypt, left with her child in the desert. All for the sake of pleasing our Creator.

As Prophet Ibrahim headed for his next responsibility from Allah, he reached an area where Hajar and Ismail could not see him. At that point, he turned back, raising his hands in Dua and said,

"O Our Lord! I have made of my offspring to dwell in a valley without cultivation by Your Sacred House; in order Our Lord, that they may establish regular Prayer: so fill the hearts of some among men with love towards them, and feed them with fruits, so that they may give thanks." (Quran 14:37).

Hajar returned to her place and started drinking water from the water-skin, and her milk increased for her child.

But when she had used up all of the water, she ascended the Safa hill and looked, hoping to see somebody.

The area was empty.

She came down and then ran up to Marwa hill. She ran to and fro (between the two hills) many times, then went to check on her baby Ismail.

He was dying. And she could find no water for him or herself.
She could not watch her son perish. How could any mother?

'If I go and look, I may find somebody,' she told herself. Then she went and ascended the Safa hill and looked for a long while but could not find anybody.

In all, Hajar ran seven rounds between Safa and Marwa, in the hot, waterless valley, where her thirsty baby lay.

She told herself to go back and check on Ismail. But suddenly she heard a voice: it was the Angel Jibreel.

'Help us if you can offer any help," she said to him.

The angel hit the earth with his heel and water gushed out. Hajar was astonished and started digging. Allah, as she had rightly proclaimed, had not abandoned them.

Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), in the Hadith in Bukhari in which much of this incident is narrated, said, "If she (Hajar) had left the water, (flow naturally without her intervention), it would have been flowing on the surface of the earth."

Today we are bearing the fruits of this mother's struggle and sacrifice. Many of us drink and have drunk from the well of Zamzam. And those of us who have made Hajj run in a much more comfortable way than Hajir ever did, between Safa and Marwa.

Her commitment to her son, her sense of urgency and her unshakable faith in Allah in such harsh circumstances are all examples of not only what an excellent mother she was, but also what a strong believer in Allah she was.

If you're going to Hajj this year, Insha Allah, remember this incident and think of that great mother, in whose memory Muslims today run between Safa and Marwa. Also think about your own mother, and how she too, would probably have done the same for you.

This is just an example when the "good" is viewed as "bad".... and the "bad" is deem "good".... there's many more such wrong perceptions existing now. 4 months without a maid left me exhausted !! But frankly speaking, apart from the exhaustion.. it was pure freedom !! I love the freedom & my bills hv gone down tremendously... yep ! Water & electricity bills dropped by $100 !! Marketing & miscs also dropped a lot !! Takder kejap2... takder sabon, takder detergent, sapu pecah, beros takder gigi, sink sumbat, etc, etc, etc...... I can go in & out of the kitchen to fix something as and when I like & wish... I can lie down, laze around without raser segan2 ... Want to cook can... don't want to cook, also can...

Tapi penat... ya ampoonn. Also, I hv to close 10 eyes with the mess, when I am dead tired !! But I am not complaining (aderlah sikit2..hehe), and I like it !!

And lil Katkoot seems to enjoy his time in the playgroup (although he still give his baba hardtimes whenever he reached school... all will be ok, at home, during the journey... but the moment he is at the school door, he'll cry & run to the teacher & start his... "I want mamaaa... I want mamaaaa" routine... haha.

Ok enough with the stories... the main reason for this entry is :

I NEED A MAID again.......... PRONTO !!!!

ANYBODY have recommendation for a Good Agent ?? .. & not so expensive ??

Reason being... my hb got a 4 mths assignment (whole day) & I hv to go to work... which means we hv to leave home at 7.15am & only come back by 6pm. Who's gonna do the laundry... who's gonna cook ??....... Issshhh, I wish I can do without maid, but this leave me no choice !!..... back to square one !!... but I will still send Katkoot to daycare (coz he likes it), which means my maid can practically enjoy the home all to herself from 8am till 5pm !!... then cook for us by then. AAArrrggghhh... CAN I BE MY OWN MAID ?? !!!! LOL !!

No Service Charge, No GST !!

One of my colleague is resigning....

Yesterday, a couple of us went out for Dinner.... they had a farewell dinner last Friday at Caurosel but I missed that (the food there is Great !) ... so we arrange another one yesterday.

Went to Simpang Bedok ... a new restaurant called BADOQUE - The New Black. (It's along the same row as Mad Jack). Very nice chill-out ambience... relaxing. Serving Sandwiches, Pastas, Pizzas, lots & lots of cheesecakes & brownies & Gelatos !!... so yummy !!!!

I had "Wallap sandwich" ... thumbs up !! The pizzas comes with crispy thin crust which I so the looiikkee !!...... the pastas are home made Tortelli & Ravioli type of thing... They served u varieties small cuts of cheesecakes, so that u can taste all !! So the best !!... u can also hv the cakes & gelatos - layered up in a tall glass... heaven !!

The good thing about this place is : The Price u see in the menu is what u pay !!... their motto is smt like "Service Charge... What Service Charge ?!!!" ..... so NO Service Charge & NO GST !!! ... yippee !!... coz at other restaurants, you could be paying at least 17% ++ more, and that could added up to quiet a lot !!!

On another note :

I tried this new cupcake recipe the other day.. turn up so puffy, soft & so deliciousssss !! This one is for keeps.......

He's been coughing for weeks... especially at nite

Monday nite and he was coughing the whole night... can't sleep. Tuesday came and we brought him to the Doctor at T2. His usual doctor was on leave, so we see another ... he gave us some medication. We went to T1 and had lunch at Popeye's... not bad. He was up & about... running & jumping around. At night, I gave him the medication... he looks tired & sleep. Wednesday morning, I went to work... got a call from hb & said he's got temperature. Took half-day & rushed home. His temperature was 38.6 deg C. Showered him & gave him Ibuprofen... alternate with Panadol. The temperature still remained within 38.5 to 39.+ deg. C... even after I showered & sponged him with ice-water... it went down a lil bit, then up again !! Thursday morning his temperature was 40.6 deg C !!! Can't wait anymore, went to the Doctor again !! Poor baby... he was out 'flat' !! He's seldom this way... he kept on telling me "I want to sleep mama...I want to sleep". The moment his temperature dropped a lil lesser than 38.5, he'll jumped all over, then a few minutes later, the temp. will rise again... & he will tell me "I want to sleep........". Alhamdullillah, as Friday passed by, his temperature gradually reduced ... but by this time, it was me whom have started to hv a headache and kept on sneezing !!! Then my nose started to run.......... 3 days hv passed and today, I have to go back to work coz I hv been 'missing' for 3.5 days last week, and my work had piled up !! .... now I'm back at work... still without a nose !! LOL !!... AAaaaarrrcchoooooo !!!

On another note :

Alfateha buat Almarhom Hassan bin Abdullah Alkhatib (caretaker of Maqam Habib Noh)... semoga Allah merahmati roh beliau, melapangkan kubornya dan memempatkan beliau dikalangan para sahabat Rasullullah (s.a.w) di Jannah.... Ameen.

A Letter to the Culture That Raised Me

Growing up, you read me the Ugly Duckling. And for years I believed that was me. I am a woman—that ugly duckling among men. For so long you taught me I was nothing more than a bad copy of the standard.

I couldn’t run as fast or lift as much. I didn’t make the same money and I cried too often. I grew up in a man’s world where I didn’t belong.

And when I couldn’t be him, I wanted only to please him. I put on your makeup and wore your short skirts. I gave my life, my body, my dignity, for the cause of being pretty. I knew that no matter what I did, I was worthy only to the degree that I could please and be beautiful for my master. And so I spent my life on the cover of Cosmo and gave my body for you to sell.

I was a slave, but you taught me I was free. I was your object, but you swore it was success. You taught me that my purpose in life was to be on display, to attract and be beautiful for men. You had me believe that my body was created to market your cars. And you raised me to think I was an ugly duckling.

But you lied.

Islam tells me I’m a swan. I’m different—it’s meant to be that way. And my body, my soul, were created for something more.

God says in the Qur’an: [O mankind, We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another (not that you may despise each other). Verily, the most honored of you in the sight of God is the one who is most righteous] (Al-Hujurat 49:13).

So I am honored. But it is not by my relationship to men. My value as a woman is not measured by the size of my waist or the number of men who like me. My worth as a human being is measured on a higher scale: a scale of righteousness and piety. And my purpose in life—despite what the fashion magazines say—is something more sublime than just looking good for men.

And so God tells me to cover myself, to hide my beauty, and to tell the world that I’m not here to please men with my body; I’m here to please God. God elevates the dignity of a woman’s body by commanding that it be respected and covered, shown only to the deserving—only to the man I marry.

So to those who wish to “liberate” me, I have only one thing to say:

Thanks, but no thanks.

I’m not here to be on display. And my body is not for public consumption. I will not be reduced to an object or a pair of legs to sell shoes. I’m a soul, a mind, a servant of God. My worth is defined by the beauty of my soul, my heart, my moral character. So I won’t worship your beauty standards, and I don’t submit to your fashion sense. My submission is to something higher.

With my veil I put my faith on display—rather than my beauty. My value as a human is defined by my relationship with God, not by my looks. So I cover the irrelevant. And when you look at me, you don’t see a body. You view me only for what I am: a servant of my Creator.

So you see, as a Muslim woman, I’ve been liberated from a silent kind of bondage. I don’t answer to the slaves of God on earth. I answer to their King.

Yesterday, my parents are blessed with another Grandchild... No. 20 !! MasyaAllah.

Congrats to my brother & SIL ... after 4 boys.... It's a GIRL !!!!

Girls comes rarely in my family.... very precious !!!

I hv 4 brothers and 1 sister... and from us comes 13 boys and only 7 girls. The last few hv seen more girls....

May Allah blessed my family, always... Blessed my parents and make them happy, in this world and eternally in yr Jannah... Ameen.

P.S - haven't gone to visit yet, InsyaAllah will post some pics after my visit... sure one pretty cute lil princess here... I want to 'romos-romos' !!!! ... hehe

Basket Ball nyer Nyonya !!

Ok... let me 'hissed' a mini-vent here !!

It was raining heavily yesterday... I was picking up lil katkoot from his Childcare/Playgroup. Wet... wet....wet !! I parked my Kangoo near a covered walkway, so we walked in the other direction instead of our norm. We saw a nyonya walking her dog (more of a lil run actually)... they quickly dissapeared under the lil opening below the stairways (under the block for u to go thru')... we have to walk thru' that too. When I turned in, she pulled her dog & walked away quickly.

There was a drink vending machine stationed there.... underneath, was a pool of water !! Did she just let her dog PEE on the machine ????? Astaghrafirullah !!

BASKET nyer NYONYA !! ... I tried to speak loudly to Zed "EEEeeee dog pee, yukkkss !!"... hoping she would hear (but I doubt so, coz she already kelam-kabut walked away" !!) I stole a quick glance at the machine, the side was splashed with PEE ... trickling down... still dripping !! $#@!@$)$$%% !!! eeeee geramnyer !!!!

So, the moral of the story is sisters... be careful when u purchase anything from these machine, or even walked nearby... don't brush yourself or lean against them. I tell Uuuuuu.... the dog's pee splashed all over ... very very near the outlet where u take the drink out & at the slot where u collect your coin change !!

It's enough that they let their dogs sit on the benches under the blocks, and shit & peed under the trees !! Now this ???!!!!!! Very inconsiderate !! very mountain tortise !!.... very #@$#%$(# !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am not against dogs or dogs owners... but IF u want to hv one, educate yourself to be civic-minded !!!! Why don't they make it compulsory for pet owners to undergo Training when they apply for the Licence ?? !!! hhhssssssstttttttt............. !! next time pee on her head !!!

During the school morning assembly, students pledge themselves to be “One united people, regardless of race, language or religion”. Roselinda (Farah Ong) and her younger brother Kadir (Ram Sia) are the children of a Malay taxi driver (Ahmad Yusuf) in the modern Singapore. Roselinda has been trying to get her dream job, applying, but not even one company had called her for a job interview. Not until she uses her Chinese mother’s family surname was she called for an interview….. Will she get the job??

"Wanna go Toys-r-US ?.. buy what ?" .... "Cars !" (sampai nak gi Giant pon nak beli Cars!!)

Kesat kaki masok toilet pon...

Everywhere we go ... "Cars, cars, cars.... motorbikes and everything with wheels !!"

Sampai naek Trolley pon jadi lah !!... hehe

1 - The Bitter Harvest

I was a teacher in the Qur'anic study circle at our neighborhood Masjid at the time. I would see this young boy after Maghrib prayers, you might say he was about fifteen years old. He held a pocket Qur'an and sat alone reading from it - no, he wasn't actually reading from it, he was just trying to make it seem as if he was.

Now and again, he would shyly steal a few glances at us, curious to know what we were doing. Once in awhile, you might see him straining to make out what we were talking about.

Every time I caught his eye, he would avert his head and continue with his recitation, as if he had not intended to look this way. Day after day, he sat in the same reserved manner, revealing the same timid glance. Finally after Isha Salah one day, I resolved to confront him.

"As Salamu `Alaykum, my name is Salman, I teach the Qur'ânic study circle in this Masjid."
`And my name is Khalid.'

Strange, he replied so fast, as if he had been waiting to share this piece of information for such a long time and expected to be asked. "Where do you study Khalid?" `In the Eighth grade … and I … I love the Qur'an a lot.' Strange indeed, why did he add that last sentence?

Confidently, I asked him, "Listen Khalid, have you got any free time after Maghrib? We would be honored to have you join us in the class."

`What? The Qur'an? The Halaqah? Yes … why, yes of course happiness overcame him). I'll be there, Insha'Allah. '
That night, I couldn't think of anything other than this young boy and the haze that surrounded his behavior. Sleep would just not come. I attempted to interpret an answer for what I saw and heard, but there was none. A verse of poetry came to mind: `the coming days shall unravel the mystery / and the news may appear from where you could never see.'

I turned on my right side and slipped my right hand under my cheek.
O Allah, I have surrendered myself to You and to You I turn over my affairs.

Subhan Allah, how the calendar was jogging by. Khalid was now a
regular in our Qur'anic circle, energetic and successful in memorization. He was friends with everyone and everyone was friends
with him. You could never catch him without a Qur'an in his hand, or find him in any other line in Salah other than the first.

There was nothing wrong with him except for his occasional long lapses of attention. There were times when his stoned eyes would reflect the fathomless thought going on in his mind. Sometimes we knew his body was with us, but his soul was somewhere else, suffocating in another world.

Occasionally, I would startle him. All he had was a mumble to reply with, he would have been the first to admit its fabrication. One night, I walked with him after class to the beach shore. Maybe his big secret might meet something equally large, relax somewhat, and release its distress and pain.

We arrived at the beach and traced the waves. The full moon was out.
A strange sight. The darkness of the night found the darkness of the
sea, with a lit moon in-between them. It sat somewhat embarrassed at
its intrusion, similar to my shyness towards Khalid right then. The rays of the silent moon rested on the silent waves of the sea. I stood behind the silent boy. The scene was silence.

Just then!

It all shattered and crushed to the ground as the young boy fell to the bottom, bleeding his heart with tears. I chose not to interrupt Khalid's emotional release, perhaps the saltiness of his tears might help him relax and cleanse his distress.

After a few moments he said from behind his tears, `I love you all … I love the Qur'an … and those who love it. I love pious brothers, moral, pure brothers. `But … my father … it's my father.' "Your father? What is wrong with your father Khalid?"

`My father always warned me not to hang around with you people. He's
afraid. He hates you all. And he always tries to convince me that I should hate you too. At any chance he gets, he'll try to prove his point with stories and tales. `But … when I saw you people in the Halaqah reciting Qur'an, I saw something entirely different. I saw the light in your faces, the light in your clothes, the light in your words, even when you were silent I could see the light even then. `I doubted my father's tales and that's why I would sit after Maghrib, watching you, pretending that I was part of the circle, trying to share in the light.

'I … I remember Ustadh Salman … I remember the time you approached me after `Isha prayer. I'd been waiting for that moment for such a long time. When I began the classes, my soul locked itself into a world of purity with your souls. I began the circle and was persistent. I wouldn't sleep, my days and nights became Qur'an. My father noticed the change in my routine. He found out, one way or another, that I had joined the circle and that I was now hanging out with "terrorists. "

`Then, on a dark night…
`We were waiting for father to come home from the coffee shop, his daily ritual, so that we could all have dinner together. `He entered the house with his hardened face and slaps of anger. `We all sat together at the dinner mat. Silence settled on the gathering as usual, all of us were afraid to speak in his presence. `He knifed the silence with his roaring and immediate voice. "I heard you're hanging out with the fundamentalists. " `I was caught red. My tongue looped and failed. All the words in my mouth attempted to come out at the same time. But, he didn't wait for the answer…

`He snatched the teakettle and threw it maliciously at my face. `The room spun and the colors united before my eyes. I stopped distinguishing the ceiling from the walls from the floor, and fell.
`My mother held me. `A damp cloth on my forehead reminded me of where I was. The vicious voice turned on my mother, "Leave him alone, or you'll be in the same lot." `I crawled out of my mother's lap and whimpered away to my room. He followed me down the corridor with the cruelest curses.

`There was not a day that he didn't beat me in some way. Curses, kicks, throwing whatever was nearest to his hand. My body had finally become a shiver of fear, grotesque colors formed all over. I hated him.
`One day while we were sitting at the dinner mat, he said, "Get up, don't eat with us." `Before I could get up though, he pounced immediately and kicked me in the back, making me slam into the pots.
`At that moment, lying there on there on the ground, I pretended to stand taller than him and shout back in his face…

`One day, I'll pay you back. I'll beat you just like you beat me, and curse you just like you cursed me. `I'll grow up and become strong. And you'll get old and become feeble. `And then … I'll treat you just like you treated me. I'll pay you back.

`After that, I left home and ran away. I just ran, anywhere, it didn't matter anymore.

`I found my way to this beach. It helped me wash away some of the sadness. I held my pocket Qur'an and began reciting until I could continue no longer because of my excessive crying.'

And here, a few of those innocent tears descended again, tears that sparkled under the moon like pearls under a lamp. I couldn't say anything, the surprise had arrested my tongue. Should I be aghast at
this beast of a father, whose heart knew nothing about mercy? Or, should I be amazed at this patient young lad, whom Allah had wished
guidance for and inspired with faith. Or, should I be shocked at them both, at the father-son bond that had broken, causing their relationship to transform into that of a lion and a tiger, or a wolf and a fox. I held his warm hand and wiped away a tear from his cheek. I reassured him, prayed for him, and advised him to remain obedient to his father. I told him to remain patient and that he was not alone. I promised that I would meet his father, speak to him, and try to evoke his mercy.

That incident slipped further away with each passing day. I tried thinking of ways to open Khalid's case with his father. How should I speak to him? How was I going to be convincing? To be frank, how was I even going to knock on his door? Then finally, I collected my
courage, rehearsed my plan, and resolved that the confrontation … uh, meeting … would be that day at five o'clock.

When the time arrived, I left for Khalid's house with all my ideas and questions for his father dangling from my pockets.

I rang the doorbell. My fingers trembled and my knees were melting. The door opened. There it was, standing in the shadow with it's frowned lips and veins beating with anger. I tried beginning with a candid smile. Maybe it might smooth out some of the wrinkles before we even started. He snatched my collar and jerked me towards him.
`You're that fundamentalist that teaches Khalid at the Masjid, aren't you?'

"Well … uh … yes."
`God help me, if I ever see you walking with him again, I'll break your legs. Khalid won't be coming to your class anymore.' And then, he mustered all the saliva in his mouth and spit on my face. The door slammed behind it.
Slowly, I unfolded a tissue that was in my pocket, wiped what he had
honored me with, and retreated down the stairs consoling myself.
Allah's Messenger – sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam - suffered more than
this. They called him a liar, cursed him, stoned him with rocks and caused his feet to bleed. They broke his teeth and placed dung on his back and expelled him from his house.

Day after day. Month after month. No sign of Khalid. His father forbade him from leaving the house, even for the congregational prayer. He even forbade us from seeing or meeting him. We prayed for Khalid … Until we forgot about him. Years passed away.

One night, after the `Ishâ' prayer, a shadow walked behind me in the
Masjid and rested a familiar harsh hand on my shoulder. The same hand that held me years ago. The same face, the same wrinkles and
the same mouth that honored me with what I was not deserving of.
But ... something had changed. The savage face had shattered. The
angry veins had subsided, belittled and still. The body looked tired of all the pain and conflict, weakened by sadness and grief. "How are you?" I kissed his forehead and welcomed him. We took a corner of the Masjid. He collapsed on my lap sobbing. Subhan Allah, I never thought that that lion would one day become a kitten.

Speak up. What's wrong? How is Khalid?
`Khalid!' The name was like a dagger piercing his heart, twisting inside, and breaking off. His head slumped. `Khalid is no longer the same boy that you used to know. Khalid is no longer the generous, calm and humble young lad. `After he left your circle he befriended a pack of evil boys, ever since he was little he loved to socialize.
They caught him at that time of life when a youth wants to leave the house. Vanity, jokes.

`He began with cigarettes. I cursed him, beat him. But there was no use, his body had grown accustomed to the beatings, his ears were used to the curses.`He grew quickly. He started staying up with them all night, not coming home until dawn. His school expelled him.
`Some nights he would come home to us speaking abnormally, his face loose, his tongue confused, his hands shivering.

`That body, which used to be strong, full, and tender, passed away. What remained was a feeble worn frame. That pure frosty face of his
transformed. It became dark and filthy. The scum of misguidance and sin clung to it. `Those shy and simple eyes of his changed. They shot red like fire as if everything he drank or took showed immediately in his eyes like some sort of punishment, in this life before the next.

`Hostility and disrespect replaced that shyness and cowardice he once knew. Gone was that soft, respectful young heart. In it's place grew a hardened center, like a rock, if not harder. `Seldom a day would pass without incident. He would either curse, kick, or hit me. Imagine it, my own son. I'm his father, yet he still hits me.'
After releasing all that, his eyes returned wet and bitter. But, he added quickly, `I beg you Salman, visit Khalid. Take him with you, you have my blessing, the door is open.

`Pass by him sometime. He loves you. Register him in the Qur'anic study circle. He could go with you on field trips. I have no objection. In fact, I am even willing to allow him to live in your homes and sleep over. `The important thing, Salman … the important thing is that Khalid returns to the way he was.

`I beg you lad, I'll kiss your hands, warm your feet, I beg you and beg you…'

He collapsed, crying and wheezing, into the memories of the grief and pain. I allowed him to complete everything he had to say.

Then I addressed him…
"Despite what has passed, let me try. Brother, you planted this seed. And this is your harvest."

Kurang Asam nyer Wikipedia !! After I received e-mails requesting petion for Wikipedia to remove the 'untrue' pictures depicting our Blessed Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) from their site... I signed it, then decided to write to them personally regarding this issue. I received such a 'negative' reply. I shall, later write to them again voicing my disappointment !!

"Big Boy" and "Myself"

His brother walked ahead of us ... talking to his dad.

Me & lil katkoot tailing behind ... he, not wanting to hold my hands anymore :`{

Me : "Zed, when we walk on the road, u hv to hold mama's hand ok..."

He : "Koko (his brother) hold Baba's hand mama ?... walk on road?... Koko don't hold Baba's hand !"

Aissshhh, this boy ! (pic - 1st day in Al-Iman school)

Me : "Ya, Koko big boy... later Zed big boy then can walk yourself on the road"

He : "Zed big boy 'ready ... can walk on road myself"

Lately, he had been wanting to do everything "myself" !...

Eat : " I wanna eat myself " (Dont want u to feed him)

Walk : "I want to walk myself" (Dont want u to hold his hand or even walk next to him !

Climbing stairs : "I want to go up/down myself" (Not wanting u to hold him and not wanting to even hold the rails)

"I wanna take myself", "I wanna read myself", "I wanna put myself"......etc, etc, etc....

MasyaAllah, my baby is indeed growing.. practically everything he wants to do himself ! It's good that he has become more independent, but as every other mum must have felt.......it's so sad to see our lil babies growing up !!... I'm sure every mum can relate to me when I say that "I wish I can preserve every moment of their childhood, but at the same time wanting them to learn more......." How could I do that ?? !!!!!!!!!!

So finally, he does get those haircut !! The day his Baba told me to make him look like a BOY ! ... I relented :( ... at last :...(

Sad tau.. my "Care to Share" blog asking for Yummy Chicken Rice recipe tak laku...... nobody care to share...*Boo hoo** sob sob**.... (LOL !!)

But nevermind, so this time I decided that I WILL SHARE !!

Actually had wanted to post this many times before... but kept on forgetting (Almaklumlah, umur dah naik tangga one-way..hehe).

Frankly, I had this for quite sometime... dulu at my parents I did (sometimes)...but since dah ader maid, malas plak nak buat sendiri. So semenjak-duermenjak takder maid ... buat balek !! This is good !! Try it !! Apart from saving $$$$, u will also save the Environment !!... Alhamdullillah, we do what we can...

My advice is for you to print this out (like I do) and keep it at home... If u don't do now, who knows InsyaAllah, later-later u might want to give it a try !!!

SUPPLIES
baking soda
washing soda
white distilled vinegar
a good liquid soap or detergent
tea tree oil
6 clean spray bottles
2 glass jars

My Personal Favorites

WINDOW CLEANER (I also sometimes use this as Multi-purpose cleaner)
1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon liquid detergent
3 tablespoons vinegar
2 cups water
spray bottle

Put all the ingredients into a spray bottle, shake it up a bit, and use as you would a commercial brand. The soap in this recipe is important. It cuts the wax residue from the commercial brands you might have used in the past.

FURNITURE POLISH
1/2 teaspoon oil, such as olive (or jojoba, a liquid wax)
1/4 cup vinegar or fresh lemon juice
Mix the ingredients in a glass jar. Dab a soft rag into the solution and wipe onto wood surfaces. Cover the glass jar and store indefinitely.

I will do this on my baking trays (after baking chicken or fish or etc) .. sprinkle some water, then sprinkle baking soda, set overnight... in the morning just wash with a bit or detergent (takyah nak scrub2 kasi garis tu tray)

OVEN CLEANER
1 cup or more baking soda
water
a squirt or two of liquid detergent

Sprinkle water generously over the bottom of the oven, then cover the grime with enough baking soda that the surface it totally white. Sprinkle some more water over the top. Let the mixture set overnight. You can easily wipe up the grease the next morning because the grime will have loosened. When you have cleaned up the worst of the mess, dab a bit of liquid detergent or soap on a sponge, and wash the remaining residue from the oven. If this recipe doesn’t work for you it is probably because you didn’t use enough baking soda and/or water.

CREAMY SOFT SCRUBBER
Simply pour about 1/2 cup of baking soda into a bowl, and add enough liquid detergent to make a texture like frosting. Scoop the mixture onto a sponge, and wash the surface. This is the perfect recipe for cleaning the bathtub because it rinses easily and doesn’t leave grit.

Note: Add 1 teaspoon of vegetable glycerin to the mixture and store in a sealed glass jar, to keep the product moist. Otherwise just make as much as you need at a time.

VINEGAR DEODORIZER
Keep a clean spray bottle filled with straight 5 percent vinegar in your kitchen near your cutting board, and in your bathroom, and use them for cleaning. I often spray the vinegar on our cutting board before going to bed at night, and don't even rinse, but let it set overnight. The smell of vinegar dissipates within a few hours. Straight vinegar is also great for cleaning the toilet rim. Just spray it on and wipe off.

MOLD KILLERS
Tea Tree Treaure
Nothing natural works for mold and mildew as well as this spray. I've used it successfully on a moldy ceiling from a leaking roof, on a musty bureau, a musty rug, and a moldy shower curtain. Tea tree oil is expensive, but a little goes a very long way. Note that the smell of tea tree oil is very strong, but it will dissipate in a few days.
2 teaspoons tea tree oil
2 cups water
Combine in a spray bottle, shake to blend, and spray on problem areas. Do not rinse.
Makes 2 cups
Preparation Time: Under a minute
Shelf Life: Indefinite
Storage: Leave in the spray bottle

* VINERGAR SPRAY
Straight vinegar reportedly kills 82 percent of mold. Pour some white distilled vinegar straight into a spray bottle, spray on the moldy area, and let set without rinsing if you can put up with the smell

These few days without Maid have been very 'testing' & 'trying' for me. Yep ! if I could... I would throw-in the towel and raised the white-flag !!... I surrender !!! Frankly, I don't know how to cope without 'breaking' my back ! I want things to be orderly, spick & span.. the way I like it, just when I hv the maid... I guessed that's quite impossible And to top it off --- lil katkott is not well... and hb had to work outside... and I hv to bring him to the Doctor (and get to walk around T2, LOL !! ). I want to do all these......I am determine to go to work, and yet still manage a clean home & feed everybody well !! ... but how ?? how gedemaaa ?? ....... wo pu hau... sakit pinggang liao !!!! really sakit ni.... !!!

Shall I hire a maid again.......... ?????? *sigh* (Astaghrafirullah)....

OK... 'self-pity' aside....Lil Katkoot is not so well, I left early from work on Monday coz the daycare called... he had been coughing badly and were out of breath ! He didn't really recovered since last month when I brought him to a new doctor... ahh well :

Since it's late and his Doctor (my uncle) at Raffles Clinic in T2 had closed, I decided to bring him the next day... but he can't really sleep at night, breathing badly. At 3.30am he woke me up, since he didn't eat dinner... I brought him to the living room & we watched Playhouse Disney while I fed him Cornflakes with Raisins... Alhamdullillah, he ate some, and even in his out-of-breath mode - were still 'yapping away' !! ... We went back to sleep at around 5.30am !!!

Next morning, hb went off to work... I did some houseworkssss, I drove to T2 ... Sick as he is, he was running around & singing his latest favourite tune that had been haunting my days & nights for the last few weeks... "He got the whoooole world in his hands,he go the whoooole world in his hand... He got the whoooooooooooole world in his hands... he got the whole world in his hand" (From Cold Storage Advertisement)... then he will go "Say.. 'Again'.. mama....say 'Again'.."... (coz last time when he did this I would say... "Again???") and I MUST say "Again??!!! ", then he would laugh and start all over again "He got the whoooooole world in his hands ................" over & over & over again & again... !! *slap head.. faint*, LOL !!! But it's so cute, cos he'll be singing so loud that people around would turn their heads... either smiling, or some frowning (so what ?!) !!

Anyway, the Doctor said his tonsils are swollen... that's why the coughs & the hard breathing... so he gets a stronger antibiotics this time... which of course cost MORE !!... hehe.. The thing is, later he said he wanted to eat Chicken Rice !! This lil picky eater loves the Chicken rice from Banquet... this is the only food he would ask for !! MasyaAllah... So I drove to Eastpoint Simei and we had our plate of chicken rice.. Alhamdullillah, he ate half of it :)

So, the actual reason for this Entry (apart from the complaining) is actually to ask any sisters out there if you can so kindly 'teach' me how to cook Chicken Rice the way they cook at BANQUET .... especially how to make the Roasted chicken so soft & tender like that... even their rice & soup are nice :) !!!! I hv my own recipe of chicken rice and had tried few others... yep, I boiled the chicken first, dip them in cold water (ice), then roasted them... but still it's not as tender as the one in BANQUET !! ... even other stalls' chicken rice are not as nice :( I had wanted to gather the courage and ask that 'boy' who served us how to cook them.... but alas, I don't hve the courage and the 'takut diketawerkan' syndrome gets the better side of me... so again, after we finished, I walked away... defeated

So, friends... if u know the 'secret' of cooking 'yummilicious tender chicken' chicken rice... share share lah wif me.... or better still, if u know somebody who worked at BANQUET (mak ker, makcik ker, kakak, abang, adek... kawan... saper2 jer lah)... surohlah 'hijack' the resipe & 'seludop' to me.... pleaseeeeee, not for me lah - but for my baby..... hehehe (takkan hari2 nak beli pat BANQUET kan ?).

Now... back to work... later go home do housework........

Alhamdullillah - May Allah bless & protect my family for whatever decision we had made. InsyaAllah, it is all for the better... Ameen.

I've sent my lil Katkoot to Childcare - so far Alhamdullillah. Sent him in the morning, he was ok & happy. Popped-in around 1pm (out of his sight), he was queing up to get his milk. I went to fetch him around 5.30pm & he was ok, wathing Hi-5 on the "bbbbiiiigggg TV" (as he called it). Today, it was a lil hard to wake him up to go... at 8am, I had to switched on Pokemon DVD to get him to open up his eyes, LOL !! Then he complained that he feet pain, his nose pain, his eyes pain..... hehehe ! But after I get him ready, sling his new water bottle, put on his bag, he was happy.... the moment we reached the childcare centre, they were looking at the big projector TV, singing songs... he ran to them !!.. InsyaAllah, all will turn up good.. Ameen

I've sent my maid back to the agent : With all the stress & 'black faces', bad attitude & advantages she had taken over me, I am determined to send her off in good terms. So, after I send lil Katkoot to school, I came back home and talk to her nicely. I told her that as she knows Lil Katkoot had been 'dreaming' of going to school everyday.. so I've already sent him to school. Also, I've decided to do the housework myself... (like indicate I will stop working la... eksen gitu.. hehe). Therefore, I told her that we won't need your service much.. and I hv talked to her agent, he will look for a new employer for you... InsyaAllah, u will find a good home. But sorry there is not much time, as the agent will come to fetch u in 2 hrs time".. She showed not much emotion, just asking my why I didn't tell her since yesterday so that she can start packing then. I told her it's ok, just pack whatever u can (she don't hv much actually) and the balance (if any), she can call me & I will send them over to where-ever :). So, I gave her a couple of more bags so she can packed up. Her agent came later to our house, we signed a few papers... we say thanks to her, she say thanks to us and KHALAZZZ !!... I am free !!! MasyaAllah, don't know why... here I am losing a helper which I much needed, but yet I feel so good !! Like the home if finally mine !!... I don't know, even with the best maid I had for over 7 years, I felt so uncomfortable walking around the house - the kitchen especially is like out of bound to me, unless for the meals... not it's MINE !!!...hahaha !!

Suker lah kau Shaikha.... tak lamer lagi siaplah kener berus lantai dapor tu !!...hehehe !

I know lots of work will wait for me after a hard-day at the office... I don't know if I can cope, I know it will demand a lot from me, I know I will be dead-tired after the day ended !! But think I can (with lots of sweat & pain)... I won't be as free to just pack-up & go where-ever I wish, I hv to work my schedule around the boys, but that's not much of a problem :)... InsyaAllah, I can !! I can, I can, InsyaAllah I can !! (Self-motivate la...).

Do'a kan I ya Kawan2.... Pray for me sisters.... I can manage a happy home, with lots of blessings from Allah... Ameen

InsyaAllah - Starting a new chapter

Alhamdullillah... Allah have granted me with patience... InsyaAllah, it will be better as I grow day by day... Ameen. Let me be contented with my life the way I am.. Ameen.

With all the patience I have, I think she had taken advantage of it... In fact she does - she has !!

No ordering around, no scolding .. no anger. Just gentle reminders or I simply kept quiet. Eventhough she have to be told to do some task.. guessed years of experiences made her do the daily routines satisfactorily (not excellent, but no complain)... but in the Attitude department, Astaghrafirullah.. Allah had given me such Sabr to put up with it for the past 9 months... hoping & praying for changes. But I guess, time is up ! She is cunning & mean towards us whom had given her so much freedom in the house.. and she is not 'shy' to show it - in fact we are the one who is shy & 'tak kuaser nak tegor' her actions !! My hubby said that she is the 'Queen' and I am the one who 'coward' when facing her... Wallahu'alam, but I memang 'penakut' in the confronting & scolding depatment... that's my nature :)

If I am to write what she had done & how we reacted to it nicely... it would sound unbelievable! It's enough to just say that we are ok & never say anything to her ; sleeping routine from around 7am till my boy gets up (around 8am to 9.30am), MUST afternoon nap around 1 to 2 hours everyday ! Not to be missed Indonesia/Malay drama at 9.30pm almost everynight (without asking permission - in the living room, while we anak-branak cramped in my bedroom watching the small TV), her One hour showers couple of times a day and one too many looonnggg toilet trips. She "cook whatever she likes to eat specially for herself" cos she don't eat all dishes that we eat & many many more ! ...These is all tolerable to me, eventhough my old maid never ever dare to do all these for the 7 yrs happily working together with us.. she is like a sister to us. I even tolerate her not knowing how to interact effectively with a toddler :(

BUT, this lady's bad attitute of being very defensive, black grouchy face, no initiative, sacarstic, provoking my baby & make him cry, and then constantly laughing at us !!!, etc, etc, etc ... ... MasyaAllah, we don't even scold her for all these !! But enough is enough !!

InsyaAllah all these will be over soon. Please doa for me my sisters & friends, "InsyaAllah .. all what happen are for the better. Allah will give me strength and ease my duty into being a better Muslimah (as a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a member of the society at large). Make me happy and content as long as I am on your earth.. make the people around me happy to be with me... place me in Jannah together with the people I love... Ameen."

Today is my Lil Katkoot's birthday ..

Happy Birthday my little chikidee darling... "May Allah protect u all the way to Jannah.. Ameen" - my initial plan was to bring him to Bird Park, but the weather for the last few dayz put me off !!

The other day, coming back from New Year Eve early release (3pm), I was thinking of bringing him to watch "Alvin & The Chipmunks"... but all tickets were sold-out ! On New Year itself, we were at East-Coast beach for picnic. So, InsyaAllah.. later I will take half-day off today to catch the movie with him and hb... really hope we can get tickets !!

What can I 'cook' for him today ?... hhhmmppphh, this lil katkoot is one picky-eater !! Most of most, bring him to KFC coz he lurrrvvees the mash potato - yep ! only the mash potato.. the rest not really... haizzz :(

Sedih...sedih betul !!! Let me let my dissapointment out here, let me cry this visual tears of mine ...coz at home I must act "cool"... action lah... that it's all orite !!

Dont get me wrong, I am Not angry at anyone ... but MYSELF !! ... it's my fault .. I commit and now.. "boooo hoooooooo !!" Hwaaaaaaaaaaa !!

I've been waiting for this day, anticipating... best tau !! Not many will organise all ladies wedding party anymore... well we do have henna nights from time to time - it's a day to "let our hair down"... wooohoooo !! ... No Men ! No prying eyes !!...

I have an invitation at DownTown East this Saturday - 22nd December for a "All Ladies" wedding dinner party from a relative/friend ... I know my 'gang' will be there, we will hv so much fun !! ... MasyaAllah, even her mum & aunts are a fun bunch of gals !! Best kan.... kan !!????

But why ??... why ooohhh why ??...

The other day when my hb told me he wanted some friends over on Eid, I told him "No" .. but to invite them on Saturday instead - AND what's that DATE ????.... 22nd !!!!!!

Why didn't I checked the calendar, why I didn't open my invitation cards !!!!!!!!!!!!!! ... *Smack Head a million times* ........Astaghrafirullah... (cannot question why & why tau ;))

When I told my hb upon discovering my *setupid* mistake of not checking ... he asked me "Then How ??" I (of course) hv to maintain my composure la... "Nevermind, no BIG deal... "... .......... tapi di dalam hati ku... sungguh lah sedih... sedih skali, remok... hancur harapan ... baju yg maner nak ku pakai pon telah bermain di kepaler... ingatkan bolehlah gelek-gelek, rupernyer dirumah ku harus berhempas-pulas !! LOL !!!!!

My niece !!... she's PREGNANT !!... Alhamdullillah !!

Would you believe it ! My lil girl.. that I carried and smooched ! My parents' first pamperred grandchild... the one that I played with, tickled and toyed with !

That joy when my sis announced the news that I'm gonna be an Aunty for the first time ... now the announcement that I will be a GRANDMA !!

and that will make my parents' GREAT GRANDPARENTS !!

Yep, he joined us praying from start to end sometimes... at times he goes missing in between, but will quickly come back while we r doing our 'tahiyat akhir', just in time to give our Salaam. Then we do'a together. He can follow his brothers doing the Adzan & Iqamah. He can follow reciting the Alfateha and some surahs... but it's just the ending2 lah... hehe... but Alhamdullillah.

The other day, I was teasing hb that now Katkoot can follow him for Jumaat prayer.

I was eating my lunch at Haig Road today when my hp beeped !

"Me (my hb), (my eldest son) and Zed are going to Darul Aman for prayer"

ha ? biar betul !! Yes, InsyaAllah he can follow the prayers.. but what about during Khutbah ? He will be talking and asking questions non-stop ! I'm afraid that the people nearby will be irritated !

Alhamdullillah, after the prayer, my hb called and said Katkoot was good ! Except that when he sujood, his cap kept on falling down... so he stepped aside to put it back on .. and then it fell again... so he kept on stepping in & out again & again... LOL !! Then when leaving the mosque he said "Bye... bye... mosque... "

I wish I was there to capture some pictures !! But nvm.. that's not important...

MasyaAllah, SubhanAllah, Alhamdullillah, Allahu-Akbar !!.... today (16 Nov 07) marked the first day he stepped into the Masjid and do his Jumaat prayer.... at 2yrs 10mths... Alhamdullillah. May Allah make him pious and blessed him with health, happiness and wealth all thru' his life... InsyaAllah... Ameen.

First first, it was my hb...

Vomitting and visiting toilet...

Couple of days later, coming home from my bro's open house

My 'katkoot' vomitted on my bed... aissshhh !

Then again ... then again ....

The morning after ... two spoon of cereal and bluuueeekkk !!

He vomitted yet again ! (Friday - I took Emergency leave)

Brought him to Raffles Medical at Epot T2.

Diagnosis : Stomach Flu

Alhamdullillah, he didn't hv diarrhoea

The doctor (my uncle) said - after my hb, my katkoot... the next one would be me !

Ayermak - how da .. I got visitors on Sunday !

Katkoot was as active as ever, Alhamdullillah... except for the vomitting and he didn't want to eat.... (where does he get his energy from ?.. SubhanAllah)

Alhamdullillah, Sunday went well...

So many relatives come & went - they happy, me happy....

Come night, after all had left, I felt so tired... then my tummy felt funny....

I started vomitting !

Monday morning - vomit plus diarrhoea !

Can't get up to go to work.

Tuesday - eksen superwoman - dragged myself to work coz hv so much to do !

Switched on PC.. my head goes spinning and I felt nauseatic !

Went to the doctor ; a day MC for me.

Today - felt a bit better, but don't dare to eat much... just a piece of bread and some jelly... I miss lunch, ni macam nak hungry pulak.

Tonight, another brother invite us for dinner ... hope I can eat by then, InsyaAllah...

I so really want to Quit !!

Quit my job and be SAHM ! With the new 'cam tak kuaser' nyer maid, I am not so happy with the way she run the house and treat my baby... but being me, cam tak sampai ati nak tegor or marah or send her off !!

In seven months she's with me... the electricity & water bills goes higher ! The groceries and home cleaning products kejap2 abes !! .. she hv no sympathy towards us spending $$$$ ! The light, the fan, the radio, the tv.. she kept on running, she do laundry several times a day.. even for 3-4 clothings !! The extra food - she threw ! The water she wasted ! Her shower - 1 hour, 2 or 3 times a day ! Not mentioning her constant in & out of the toilets several times a day ... She naps very very often and she MUST hv her afternoon naps. She has broken several of my plates, my glasses, couple of my Raya dresses already stained from her washing ! My baby had fell, burned his finger...etc... She argued when we tell, she laughs when she's done something wrong, she sulked when she's not happy.. She don't bother to offer help when sees me 'doing' work !

With all these.. I still tell my hb, it's ok... she's ok, but hv a bit of attitude ! One thing is, she can do the work (but hv to be told)...

But this !! Oh my !! Now I am not at ease going to work....

One night, we had told Katkoot we r going Hari Raya visits, but I was tired and decided not to. Katkoot was later so excited telling her..

He : "Bibib (bibik).. Zed go Ari Raya visit... go Ari Raya visit"...

She : "No, Zed stay home... sleep"

He : "No Bibib, Zed go Ari Raya visit !"

Then I told hb that we hv to bring him out, even for awhile coz he was so excited to go out already... we decided to go to Simpang Bedok for teh tarik and prata. So I told her to change him while I myself get changed. Then Katkoot came running out in his pampers... crying. I asked why ?

He : "Bibib say Zed go sleep".

I went in to tell her that we are going to bring him out, that's why I told her to change him... *she laughs*...

Me : "Zed change ya... we go out ya Habibi..."

She : "No ! Zed go sleep with bibik..."

He : "No Bibib ! Zed go out mama, baba... Zed go Ari Raya visit"

She : "No, Zed go sleep"

He : "No !! No, Zed go !!" (crying)

*She laughs*

I was so frustrated at this time ! Here I am trying to instill good manners to my baby and here she goes intimidating & irritating him !!! She takes joy in seeing this boy shouting and crying !! What's happening here ?????????? What is she teaching my baby while I am away at work ?? Is she setting bad examples for him to pick up ?? Even with this, I tried to be nice to her..

Me : "Kamu jagan kasi dia marah.. saya tak suka tau kamu kasi dia geram bergini. Saya sudah janji mau bawak dia keluar... jangan kasi dia nangis !"

*She smile & laughs*

There's more & more of her frustrating behaviour, everyday !...

Tell me what to do !! Every time I think about it, I felt like sending her back... but everytime I look at her... I tak sampai ati...... *sigh*

It could hv been worst... Alhamdullillah.....

Have not been feeling too well lately. Started with Back-aches... then the runny nose... then the migrane... then the coughs.....

As Allah knows best ... just as I was about take out my mixer, the trays, the butter and the flour .. I was caught with a bad cold... struck out flat... cold....

Kesian kan ? kesian I tau....... hehe

Friday, went to the doctor - MC ! Flat on the bed...

Saturday, kuatkan semangat... must at least make ONE cookies... ok make Suji senang sikit. But where's my Ghee ?? I bought the Ghee the other day... can't find it ! Ok.. change plan, make cornflakes... where's the box of cornflakes I bought ? Where's my almonds, where's my flour, where's my sugar ????? Where ??????????

Cant find any of them !! My maid said she didn't see them !! Huh ?? I definitely hv bought all these during my Grocery sprees in Shing Shiong ! Aisey Men... maybe we left behind a bag amongst our tons of groceries.. maybe we left it under the block, maybe... maybe... No more time for maybes... get my hb to go to NTUC and buy all these again !

Alhamdullillah... blurr, blurr and groggy, groggy... manage to make Sujee and Cornflakes... Then my sister SMS... "Tomorrow we do Tart, ok"... aiyoh..yoh.. mama masak sayo... "Still not well, but I will be there"... was my reply. So nak tak nak, dragged myself to her house on Sunday.... Alhamdullillah, Allah give me strength and health, we managed to do like 500+ pieces to be divided into 4 families.. (plus one tray terover cook sikit.. hehe).

Now, my baby katkoot is sick... Whole night yesterday he didn't sleep well..."My nose, my nose..." Yep, my nose plus his nose were both stuck somewhere.... I am still not well and now him... ai yai yai...makes me more giddy.... Alhamdullillah...

So when do I hv the time and strenght to make my Chocolate chips? My coffee biscuits? My cashew nut biscuits, my peanut biscuits ??? ... Anyone wanna help? pretty peleezzz... nanti I kasi 10 keping free bawak balek... ok

Alhamdullillah... the other day went to Johor, my hb borong 8 types of cookies... then I've already ordered the Tumpi, kek lapis prune, kek kukus... Alamak ! blum tepon my aunt nak order kueh Makmor !!!.... aiyoh... aiyoh.... tu kueh my hb faboret !... 'chOp-mE-niTe'... hv to call her NOW !!

Been really busy at work. And at home, MasyaAllah.. this lil katkoot hv been demanding much of my attention lately... don't know why. On top of that, for the past few weeks, he's been asking for my old maid everyday !!.. Aunty Emy this, aunty Emy that, .... and the moment he hears the door, he goes "Aunty Emy... Aunty Emy come back !"... why eh??

Last couple of months back

While feeding baby Katkoot his meal… he shook his head meaning he doesn’t want anymore..

Me : "Last… last ok…."
Baby : (Open mouth) eats & then shake head again

Me : "Last… last ok…" (another spoon goes in)
With this tactic I can get a couple of spoonful more into his mouth… hehehe

Scenario 2

Since last month

While feeding baby Katkoot his meal… he shook his head meaning he doesn’t want anymore..

Before I could open my mouth to utter “last… last…” to him

He goes : “Khalaaaazzz mamaa… khalaaazzzz” (finish already)

Then he literally will say “Burrrpp… Hamduyilla…” (Alhamdullillah)

Me : “Last la… one more ok…”

Baby : “mamaaa… Bburrpp !… Hamduyilla….. Khalaazzz.. !!!”
... "Juice, peezzzz mamaaa.."

That’s it !! He got me there…….. lost yet again !! 1 – 0 !!

Alhamdullillah to my 21 dayz hospitalization leave, my katkoot had added many words to his vocabs .. plus all those hours infront of Playhouse Disney Channel do make him learn lots !! He amazes me many times with the words he uttered .. like that day when he saw a boy skating he shouted “Mamaa… I want skate… weeee !!”

Ok, that aside… my baby called all man (stranger) Uncle and the lady Auntie. He saw taxi.. "Uncle Taxi! ", construction workers "Uncle Bob (from Bob the builder), Uncle lorry, uncle bus" and the list goes on....

My baby is really into superheroes lately !! Anything with Cape is Upermen ! (superman) and of course there’s ... I-dermen ! (spiderman So we hv these Superman Stickers where he is now sticking everywhere in the house – especially on my wardrobe !! There is a sticker of Superman standing next to Wonderwoman … suddenly he goes
“Mamaa… Upermen !….. Mamaa… Auntie Upermen !!”

Was watching the ad on HL milk.. u know – where the girl jumps over buildings bcoz she’s out of milk and goes into her mum’s home thru the window, opens the fridge, get the milk and left a thank you note to her mom….

The moment the ad come out, my baby goes :
“Mama… Auntie I-dermen “… I can’t catch what he’s saying at first till I saw the girl jumping around, then he said it again...................“ Mamaaa… Auntie I-dermen !!”

When Tricia Himawan was a financial analyst, she worked 50 hours a week and earned about $75,000 a year.
Now, she works, by her estimation, about 119 hours a week doing 11 different jobs, and, for 10 of them, she makes ... nothing !!

"I work nonstop as a mother," says Himawan, of West Orange, New Jersey, as she breast-feeds her nine-month-old son Jonas and watches over 4-year-old Juliana.

If she were paid for her work as a mother, she would be earning almost $140,000 a year.

That is the conclusion of research conducted by Salary.com, a firm based in Waltham, Massachusetts, that specializes in determining compensation. Himawan was one of 40,000 mothers who responded online to Salary.com explaining what their job entailed and how many hours they worked. (Book urges mothers to stay in work force)

The typical mother puts in a 92-hour work week, the company concluded, and works at least 10 jobs. In order of hours spent on them per week, these are: housekeeper, day-care center teacher, cook, computer operator, laundry machine operator, janitor, facilities manager, van driver, chief executive officer and psychologist. By figuring out the median salaries for each position, and calculating the average number of hours worked at each, the firm came up with $138,095 -- three percent higher than last year's results.

Even mothers who work full-time jobs outside the home put in $85,939 worth of work as mothers, according to Salary.com.

"My work is my family right now, and my backbone is about to break," says Himawan, who now also works at home as a real-estate broker."My baby is on my hip 24 hours a day."

I managed to 'catch' a couple of films that I am really interested to watch (call me bias, none of which are English or Chinese - only mainly from "The Secret Life of Arabia")

1. Sankara (Sri Lanka) - Good (Opening Film)

2. Losing Ahmad (Kuwait) – Good (Real time - True Story)
Abdullah (the Director), started to shoot this film impromptu when he met 2 ladies on a plane, and they told him of their journey to Kuwait-Iraq border to pickup Ahmad and bring him to NewYork for medical treatment (Ahmad - a 7 years old boy affected by a bomb blast on his way to school, which left him blind, cause him an arm and a distorted face). This film follows their real-life journey. However, upon realizing that Abdullah is not going to give them the whole footage of the film, the two ladies (& their team) ditch Abdullah in JFK airport!! Thus he lost contact with Ahmad & his brother Saad. A search that took him a year. When he finally got news from them, they are on their way back. Abdullah tracked them again. Ahmad finally returned with not much done! Just a 'stone eye' and an artificial arm without any moveable limbs!! And the biggest damage done is that his beloved brother Saad was killed in an accident !!
These ladies get big coverage from the media for their humanitarian effort – but what did they really do when they realize that there's not much publicity??.. very little !! Are they really sincere ??
They invade - kill thousands of woman, children, men & the old... and they get BIG publicity for 'helping' a few ??... and when there's no publicity - just dumb them ??.. BULLSHIT !!
I really enjoyed this film - 'an eye opener' - Good Job Abdullah!!

3. Scream of the Ants (Iran) - Fairly Good
A more spiritual film about an Iranian couple's journey to India in search of a spiritual teacher called "The Perfect Man". The wife being religious, & the husband being an atheist. Lots of questions about the existence of God.
Some part of the film does scare me though.. like the burning of the bodies in the Ganga river!! ... eeeerrriiee !!
On the whole, it's a fairly good movie ... it makes u realize how 'lost' and ungrateful ppl can be without faith, without foundation ... and how blinded ppl can be about the existence of God and how naïve one can be when choosing a religion.
I was just wondering, why a Muslim director potrays all this thru' Hinduism and not thru' the Islamic side - thru' Sufism, for example. Maybe living in Europe makes him persee so ... Wallahu-alam

4. I am the on who bring flowers to her grave (Syria/France) - BIG Yawwwwnnnnnnnnnnnn :(
This one I really really regret watching and losing my sleep over (started at 9.15pm hokay!!)
A documentary, traveloque and diary of an ex-militant woman and her interview with 3 exiled woman living in France .. their lifes & how they are leading it now.

Sounds interesting - but in reality, a real BORE with a capital B !!... how it can win awards at some festivals really boggles me !! Yyaaaaaawwwwnnnnnnnnnnn ...

4. Crossing the Dust (Iraq) - Good
Another good film about 2 Kurdish soldiers journey to deliver food to the army during the toppling of Saddam. One their way, they met a lost 5 yr old boy named “Saddam” crying at the side of the highway... how they try to help him get back home. The film have its’ light moments, realistic scenes (shot just when the US army ‘invade’ Iraq), and ended up with a sad tragedy. The director had based his movie amongst the many stories he heard during the war….
Another nice film worth watching :)

Yesterday marked the Opening of the Film Festival at Lido 3.
Opening Film shown SANKARA from Sri Lanka (Lido 1)

Quite a 'slow' film with very very little conversation. However, the impact is deep.
It addresses the nature of human in general, how one's fight with your own desire and passion. It comes in the form of a young Buddhist monk, coming to a small village temple to restore its painting. Buddha teaches that man must not be swayed by passion. However, while painting, he is distracted by a beautiful young village girl – here, he have to face the demons within himself, his inner spiritual world is plunged into turmoil. The day after the restoration work was completed, the paintings were scrathed, destroyed (by himself). He managed to restore them again; without being able to erase the mark completely though.

Isn't this how we are? Constantly 'fighting', 'tugging, pulling, then releasing' with our inner-self ??... Astaghafirullah hal-azeem.

I wanted to keep... but not sure how to keep it neat !!

After much pestering from my dear hb for the longest time, I relented !! Anyway, it’s getting too messy and he hv been scratching much too often.

After my hb’s ‘treat’.. "Do it, or I'll bring him myself!!" I scamper to call my friend Faridah to fix immediate appointment for both of us (since I need one too) and Alhamdullillah, she's available !! Half an hour later, we are at her abode in Tampines... yes ! she have a special room to cater for it at her home !!

My hb actually is not so hepi with the result, he said the 'round' cut makes "katkoot" luks more like a girl !! Ok la hb.. I give-in, the next time - you bring him to your barber !!

Two-and-a-half hour at T2

Ok.. no need to story long-long lah, u can read abt the meet-up fm Marya, Mel & Magg's blog. Eh ! this should be the Union of the 'M' da.. how come I teselit one 'S' ??.. but I also "Mama" perr.. so all Mummies & Mamas oso M maa..!! hehehe..

To meet at 4pm, but all 'star karat' sure lambat nak kener perambat .. including ME !!.. actually kan (excusela ni...) I oredy redy early-early tau, tot of taking the MeRaTi wif baby Katkoot (he sure jakon & hepi to take MRT). But some 'uninvited' guess came over, so tesendat kejap, but when the clock showed 4pm, I just "Salam Alaikum" la.. On my way to take my camera yg tetinggal at my kangoo van, I pon terdrive to the Airport !!.. hehe..

Was there almost 4.30 and began the loooonnnggg walk to the other end of the Airport to Swensen ! While waiting, Mel sms me & said she's already at McD... eh! Budak ni.. orang nak gi Swensen, she pat McD pulak ! (but lucky jugaklah coz Zed can 'curik2' Asyura nyer Fries while waiting for our order.. hehe). Magg, Marya & her niece came later. Then, I need 'cash'! & u know what !.. together with Zed on toll (& sometime dokong!) , jalan cam lipas-kodong baaaaaaccck to the other end of the Airport to the ATM & then baaaaaaack again to Swensen. Ya Rabb ! cam nak tekelepot my kaki !

But Alhamdullillah.. we had fun ! Nice getting to know u MAGG... Muler2 tak kenal nama but face cam familiar (cos I've seen Crabb's blog b4). We chat2, at the same time run-run after our babies yg terrorise Swensen until the partition plastic pon bekali2 tecabot ! Zed kept wondering off & running around - out of my sight... & while not wanting to leave the table (takot telepat topics.. hehe), I hv to constantly stick out my ala ostrich neck making sure he's not totally lost! Chat nyer chat, our babies dah terOver their 'Good' behaviour, so better leave before we kener halau !! We made our way to the viewing gallery & continued celoteh while leaving the babies doing their Oympics track & field events there... Zed kept on going down, doing his disco spin on the floor, mopping them with his T-shirt... Selamatlah ni Epot S'pore berseh, kalau pat 'negeri' lain, itam-lotok lah ko nyer T-shirt !! Almost 7pm already, so we parted ... Mel tagged along with me cos she wanted to go to Tampines (sorry eh Mel, duduk belakang)... & I pong go home lah....

And I tot, I don't want to tell story long2 ..Haha ! (go figure !)

{No pictures from me coz my "Ma-Ka-Ka" (Zed's version for Camera) went flat on me !.. Aiiizzz !!!}

I wouldn't say that this NOT a good book... it is !!

Bring back lot of memories to me... the old kampong days when we use to play & run after "layang anyot"...

Also, it gave good portrays on life in Afghan back then - how difficult & sad...

The value of friendship - what we wish we have not done or done better....

The relationship of a father & son, the master & the servant, the people & the oppressor, the turn of the table where one day u rule & the other day u suffer, life as migrants, and many more... it is all so surreal !

Frankly, many times - my precious tears flowed while reading this novel (Thanks to Mrs Beki for recommending them.. hehe)

HOWEVER !!.... I don't really recommend this book for teenagers without good Islamic value(thought my 15 yrs old do read it after I gave him some insight of the book and what to be cautious and aware of)..

~ Mainly, about his fathers view on Islam, people drinks (liquour of course), doesn't really pray (although then ending changes this, Alhamdullillah), etc...

On the whole, it is a good read (with caution, of course)...

They are making this book into a movie (screening end 2007 & early 2008)...

Me & Marya Latino are thinking of sembang-sembang (& telanjor tu termakan lunch & eskrim) pat Swensen on this Saturday, 10th March 2007.

Tapikan... masih carik 'kaki'....

All these happenings a few weeks ago la.... Skali arong post pat sini.

1. JB wif my ummi - lamer tak go out wif her but she ni pon bz woman, nak kener date ! To City Square - just mammam lunch & get a pair of PooBear shoes for Zed, which he refused to take off after trying - hahaha... kasut lamer yg masok kotak !! Then to Extra Hypermart to get Zed's milk. Kempunan nak beli DVD bcoz got inspection - sepantas kilat all the DVD shop only hv originals - cam 'bogel' the alley, no stalls selling DVDs !!... My hb taknak rugi so stopped at Pelangi to try his luck... me & my mum juz wait in the car coz Zed leadi sleep... Seeing my hb coming back so fast, I knowlah sure 'bacin' coz he kalau browse DVDs sure nong-nong time, then beli must melambak2 !! Reason being : "Inspection going around"... wow ! ni inspection satu JB ker ??

2. At Mel's - Thanks to Mel for inviting us untuk panas2kan rumah. Get to meet Idahmann & Shasharina .. nice to c u in person and Eimah yg dah ku jumpa dulu... hehe... Tapi sorry cos takleh lamer, hb tunggu... tak lamer tak lamer pon terover One hour.... haha ! Balek gi VivoCity..

3. Virgin trip to VIVOcity - 2nd day of CNY; mak oi ! maknusia punyerlah ramai !... Betullah S'porean ni takder tempat lagi nak pergi - jalan2 depan kedai tutup pon jadi... hehehe... Takmo waste tym, just go to GIANT !.. best arr - banyak roti !! Round-round 2 jam sey dalam Giant !!.. hahaha... Can't wait for Giant Tampines to open !!

4. BBQ at East Coast - 3rd Day of CNY; rainy day - tot of cancelling tapi ni dah pupok 4kg Chic Wings & 4 ekor ayam, potato salad satu tupperware - saper nak makan ooiii ! So by 4.30pm, I packed & go - so the ramai but managed to get good spot - then my family start coming - punyerlah banyak makanan.. Alhamdullillah, had a great time !... Cancel my plan to stay overnite (cam malas pulak), packed-up at midnight. Dah bungkus tent, baru my HB's friends called & said they r coming over.. kirim salam sua !!.. hahaha...

ok - dah telanjor, tepek ni skali... ni Pendatang Haram depan rumah I, asal dier nak beranak jer depan rumah aku jadi KK sepital dier.. pas tu anak dah besar pon dier jadikan Nursery. Tu tak kesah lah... yg kesah sangat, pasu2 bunger aku jadi TOILET bowl dorang.. abes mati pokok2 ! A few pokok & tanah kener buang, sayang daun pandan aku tau !!... tiap2 ari balek, naek tangga jer dah bau 'perfume', cian maid aku pagi petang siram corridor !!.... halau2 dier datang lagi, tapi dah jadi kawan2 Zed pulak !!
